Calcium Pyruvate

How Does Calcium Pyruvate Work?

When looking into the effects of calcium pyruvate, you won't get far before you see the term "weight loss" and a little later, the word "supplement". That's enough to set off an alarm bell or two. Calcium pyruvate isn't exactly a household word, although it's a compound that's produced naturally in our bodies. In fact it's a good substance, performing a useful function, and does not appear to be harmful.

Under the theory that more is better, it would seem to make sense to find out how to either extract or synthesize this compound, and sell it as a supplement. Calcium pyruvate does help burn fat, so if we have more of it in our body, we should burn more fat. In theory, if we ingested enough of it, we could burn as much fat as we want. That's beginning to sound like another miracle weight loss pill that will take off pounds rapidly, and maybe even keep them off. Taking off pounds too rapidly isn't all that healthy, but that doesn't stop people from trying.

Look For Information, Not Claims - When you're considering taking a supplement for weight loss, it's a very good idea to do a search for objective information about the subject. An article claiming to do just that essentially copied information put out by manufacturers of the supplement, a source never known for being completely objective. There are three things you want to ask about almost any supplement.

Does it deliver on its claims?

How much is needed to gain the desired results?

Is it in any way harmful, irrespective of the amount taken?

Insofar as calcium pyruvate is concerned, it does burn fat, and if you take enough of the supplement, you will lose some weight. The problem seemingly is, you have to take quite a bit of it to feel the effects. Quite a bit of it may be harmful, which hasn't yet been proven or disproved. To take enough of this supplement to do what you want it to do could get quite expensive, and if you don't know for certain whether large amounts are good for you or not, you might think twice. It's always amazing how much people are sometimes willing to spend on things that aren't all that good for them. We all do it at one time or another.

Something To Ponder - This is not to say that calcium pyruvate won't be effective. The majority of weight loss pills, either don't work or may be harmful. This may or may not be the case with calcium pyruvate. In truth, not enough is known about this seemingly "miracle" supplement. The theory behind it appears to make sense, but again, you have to ask yourself – if something is basically good for you, is more of it better? Vitamin A is good for us, in fact is necessary. Vitamin A supplements, if taken in excess, can be highly toxic. Something to ponder. The more that jump on the bandwagon promoting the supplement, the more cautious you should become. If I sell you a weight loss supplement, I'm more interested in what it does for me (makes money) than what it may or may not do for you, except if it works just a little bit, I can probably get you to buy more.

Here's a thought. If you're really interested in giving calcium pyruvate a try, find someone else who is using the supplement to lose weight, and watch and see for a few weeks or months what the results are. Even if they seem quite positive, it won't hurt to check with a nutritionist, or better yet a physician, before you invest in your own supply.
